Tetracycline: Acne Products & Information

Tetracycline acne medication is a pharmaceutical drug which like most can have some nasty side effects. Acne pills from pharmaceutical companies are not the best approach to acne problems in my opinion. I happen to detest tetracyline personally as it was administered to me as a child and prevented proper enamel growth on my teeth. I recommend avoiding acne pills and try a more natural approach to healthy skin care.

Tetracycline

Tetracyclin is the other popular antibiotics prescribed for acne treatment. It is the generic name and the brand names are Achromycin, sumycin. Unlike other antibiotics it is taken well before after the meals as the binding with food particles make it ineffective. This is one more powerful anti-biotics that are rarely prescribed now a days for the acne treatment as there are more serious problems that could be treated with it. While intake of tetracycline capsules or tablets, remember to take it before or after meals. And remember to take a glass of water with it. Like the other antibiotics employed for acne treatment avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight as these treatments tend to make the skin more sensitive to sunlight. Some of the common brand names are Achromycin V, Robitet Robicaps, Tetracap, Panmycin, Sumycin , Topicycline .

There are some less sever side effects from tetracycline usage the following is the minor problem which is temporary for severe cases you should consult the doctor immediately.
  • Diarrhea and Stomach problems
  • Skin Rash in some severe cases
  • The characteristic yellow color after use in skin or the eyes in some patients. In the case of the topical solution usage the stains can be washed off with some clean water.
  • The other common problem noted in patients in Sore mouth
  • Rectal and vaginal Itch – one of the hated side effects after tetracycline use
  • The topical form of medication is known to cause minor burning sensation and in some cases itching or stinging for considerable time.
As with any antibiotics these should be used as last resort when other medications feel, there are more serious conditions where the antibiotics will help you in future. The main issue the medical community is fighting is the antibiotics resistant virus and bacteria strains. You should consider the pros and cons and especially the side effects before taking the tetracyclin treatment. You may wish to visit the other sections in this website where there are many natural treatments and well as prescription non antibiotic medications are suggested and completely explained. As with any medication a good diet and exercise is a good substitute for over medication.
