I am Ana from Slovenia, Europe and I would like to share my experience with Accutane.
I am almost 24 years old and I have problems with acne for more than 10 years now. I tried everything possible: cosmetics, beauty salons, doctors, dermatologists, birth control pills, diets etc.
A year and a half ago my dermatologist suggested (after unsuccessful therapy with birth control pills) that I should start Accutane therapy. Despareted that I was I naturally went for it. I took Accutane for 4 months and it really helped me (I didn't mind all bad side effects, I was willing to suffer anything as long there were results). I must say that my doctor (general medicine) advise me not to take Accutane because it has severe side effects which can be seen after a few years.
After a few months of having nice skin, my acne started to appear again and it got worse and worse. They say that 90% of all Accutane patients recover completely, but I guess I wasn't that lucky.
So now, I am again on Accutane therapy (i am taking pills for a month now) and slowly it is getting better. I don't have any special problems, except dry lips, skin. I am sure that I will again have nice skin, but I am not sure if I will able to keep it that way. I am afraid that my acne will burst again. We will see.
