Blackheads: Blackhead Products & Information

Blackheads are caused by a combination of skin oils and toxins released from your body through your skin causing clogged pores which become blackheads, pimples and sometimes into full scal acne. Please read more about this in the following article and check out some of the featured resources for blackhead and acne remedies and treatments.

What is Blackheads Really?

Millions of people have blackheads and most just assume that blackheads are one of those things that they have to suffer with. This is not the case. Blackheads can be treated giving you more confidence in your appearance. The sebaceous glands under the skin that produce oil can become over active and when this happen acne and blackheads form. The oil that is produced both expands and thickens the pores before forming a blockage or plug. This plug then turns black as dirt and debris stick to the exposed end of the oily plug. The other factor is oxidation which turns the white heads into black. People who suffer from blackheads tend to have rough skin due to the thickening of the pores. Blackheads can lead to acne forming on your skin as well. The hardened oil plugs inside of the pores can become inflamed and then infected. This is acne and it can lead to serious scarring of the face, neck, chest and back.

If you are able to control blackheads you will better be able to prevent acne from taking root. You should not try to force out blackheads on your own. You should see a professional for the treatment of stubborn blackheads otherwise you could do serious damage to your skin. It is possible to treat and remove blackheads. You will need to cleanse your face very well at least twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Do not use too harsh a cleanser or wash your face more than that. Over cleansing can actually cause your skin to secrete even more oil. There are also many home remedies that you can try for removing your blackheads. One effective method is to mix 1/4 cup of boiling water with 1 tsp of Epsom salts along with 3 drops of iodine. You will then want to dab this solution directly onto your blackheads with a cotton ball. This will loosen the blackheads so that they can be removed with a gentle squeeze. If this does not seem to do the trick you can graduate to blackhead removal tools. These are generally stainless steel. You want them to be made of this hearty material because it can be disinfected with ease. You need to disinfect all of your tools after they have been used or your blackheads could become infected and turn into acne.

If worse comes to worse and none of the above options will deal with your blackheads effectively you can invest in a blackhead removal gun. This handy tool has a vacuum suction head that will suck the blackhead right out of the pore. Before you use this gun try the Epsom salts and iodine solution to loosen the blackheads, this will help the extractor tool to work more effectively.
